:confused:

Hi all,

I just bought a 1971 Mercury 650 65hp 4cyl outboard and it did not have an ignition switch. The 7 wires that are comming from the outboard are Red, Yellow, Grey, Black, Salmon, White, and Brown. I bought a universal starter switch today from O'reilly's Automotive and it has 4 connections. These connections are: Starter, Ignition, Battery, and Accessory.

Can someone pleasze help me out with what colors go where?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You need to get the correct switch as these universals some time do not have constant 12vdc to ignition terminal when turned to start position.

101;

It appears that the only 65hp engines built in 1971 are model number 1650101 with s/ns between 2997339 thru 3293183.

What is your s/n?

What control are you trying to connect the harness to? I have several here, not for sale but I should be able to find the switch number for you.
