Your motor probably won't run on muffs because the added water pressure is leaking past bad gaskets into the cylinders. Here is a test.....Remove your spark plugs, hook the motor back up to the muffs. Crank the motor over several times. Look in each spark plug hole with a flashlight for any water. If there is water in a cylinder, the head gasket, or the exhaust baffle gaskets are leaking. If a head gasket is leaking between the cylinders, or into a water passage the compression readings would look like the ones you're getting.

I thought it's bad to crank a motor with the plugs out?

I assume he means to ground the plugs out when doing this. I take the plugs out and ground them to the engine when I do the compression tests, or turn it over. The reason I was asking about the gasket set, is, If the motor has to come apart I'm going to need all those gaskets anyway

I just got done posting a new thread on here that was about 5 paragraphs, clicked to submit and it said I was not logged in anymore. Lost it so I am posting to this thread because I have been reading it. Please take a look at the link provided. it is my j35ecs. it is spitting back hard and dies at low idle. I have cleaned the carb, and all of that. I have the electric choke solenoid disconnected because the actuator will not slide in and out anymore. Dont know why, it just seems stuck. The solenoid works, just that the arm seems to get hung up 2/3 of the way throug. There is no milkyness in plug holes, but plugs look dark. i replaced and have same issue. Could it bt the points? Is there supposed to be that much water spitting out of the exhaust holes ?How do I adjust them? Thanks for looking and any help will be great.

I tried pumpin the fuel bulb, and it changed nothing. On a side note. The barrel I have it is is black, and I noticed that there is a tremendous amount of black oil sludge in it now after just test running a small amount of times. I have a clear filter glass inline on the fuel hose, and it doenst look that rich.

Ps Thats fine about oil in the barrel
You drop water out of the cowling in the video 43 secs that shouldnt be happening. Id guess water shorting the electrics a badground or a powerpack failure

Thanks Bosunsmate! I did make a whole new thread. Sent it through, and nothing. It was gone. Apparently I timed out , and had to log back in. Then post was gone. I just wanted to put something because I was about to throw this laptop out the window. Yea I noticed the water as well, and thats why I put it in the video. I found there it was coming from. There is a bolt missing out of the back cover. water is coming out steady there. How do I check Powerpack? I will post a new thread again in a bit. Thanks...

Plug the hole and clean the tank out for starters too, there was something worse than weed floating in there
