Help 50HP Johnson seahorse

v4sL 11c Seems to be the model # and it also is stamped 1970 401 inside the motor I need to know what year this is and what to do for regular Mantince this is my first boat ive had it for 2 years and it has sitten under a tarp ive done nothing with it motor seems to be lubed well and has new spark plugs. Also can anyone tell me about the electirc system will it charge the battery while it runs ?

Model number V4DL-11C is a 1959 50hp Johnson. Unless it has a generator on the opposite side of the carburetor pertaining to the starter, then no, it does not have a charging system.

That engine runs on a belt driven magneto, and uses Champion J4C or J6C spark plugs gapped at .030.

THe lower unit uses what is called HiVis 80/90w gearlube, available at Wal*Mart, K-Mart, and your local dealership.

Sitting for that length of time...... remove, clean, and rebuild the carburetor as it is no doubt fouled.

Its Been a # Of years since I have worked on small engines can anyone point me into the right direction of rebuliding the carbs and Thank you for solving a two year mystrey for me

Allmost forgot do they make those generators that would fit her i see were it gos now Thanx Agin
