HelP! 9.9 1985 very hard starting..

First, sorry for my english... At the end of last year, my motor suddenly stop. It ran only if i pump the fuel bulb. SOmeone told me that it was the fuel pump. I bought a kit to rebuild it. Now, it going well but it start after 10-15 hits... The idle is not going well too. It turn off alone and after i have to make big arm muscle! I know that is good for my health but not for my mental health... Can someone help me please? :eek:

I would check the idle adjustment screw. If its not set right it could be hard to start and cause poor idling.<br /><br />Turn the needle in all the way until it GENTLY seats, then turn it back out 1 1/2 turns.<br /><br />Good luck.

Go back a few clicks to the Trouble Shooting section of this site, posted there I have written articles specifically on the 9.9 Johnson/Evinrude where you will find directions to look for your problem.
