Hi there, have spent entire summer waiting for mechanic to find a lower unit for my deceased dad's 1997 90 hp lower unit ELPTO. I have taken on the task of finding parts on my own but I`m not mechanically inclined . But`I`m tired of waiting. I have found a lower unit from a 1990 90 hp mariner. Does anyone know if it's compatible?
Please help
thanks

They use the same housing.
The same drive shaft. and the same gear shifting equipment.
It probably will fit.??? Maybe?
You have the model# for both motors?
Take yours off and compare them.

Thank you for the response . I do have the serial numbers for both motors. Is there somewhere I could check compatibility using those?

1997 should be the 3 cylinder motor...if the 1990 is of a 6 cylinder it wont fit.
