thx for the very detailed post.I have a boat with a bunch of little places that need attention.This will help alot.I did not want to cut huge holes in my hull.I have a 89 kingfisher.I think it is a tri hull and it doesnt leak.I just think it looks bad with the little spotts about the size of a penny in spots.

Hey You Guys!

I was searching around for some way to guide me through a "Nose patch" where the past owner was beaching the boat.

Of coarse I let dry out a couple days in the 80 sun first ..then....

I have went out and got some two part resin and hardner along with a woven style cloth.

I use my 4" grinder ( AND MASK w FILTERS) to bring it down to the original glass fibers.

Clean with Acetone.

Mix up a batch and cut some pieces to mix in with the first sheds to fill the void for strength.

Hhen start with fabric that covers 4" pasted the defect and resin in the fab till it is soaked.

As I move to the third layer of cloth I will make the peices bigger so as not to leave this huge step in the repair to original surface.

Finally just to get it in the water I will top it with more resin and keep it off the beach.

I have two nice new pumps just in case and plan to do more from the inside this winter for a final strucual finish.

Is this right?

That looks like a big hole bob! For a hole that sizi I would use fiber glass matting not the woven cloth. The matting is much stronger and easier to shape larg areas with. It kind of resembles fiberglass card board and will take more abuse than cloth use this for a base then finish coats with cloth it will come out alot nicer and not as much work. then for finishing results read my previous post.

Usually wait about an hour to an hour and a halbetween coats. Depends on temp and how humid it is as to how fast resin sets. Here in Az. it sets faster than it would say in Missisippy, I just like spelling that!
