Help!! Check Engine Light is on after 10mins run with Long Beep~~

Hello All,<br /><br />I am newbie on this web site and I need your help!!<br /><br />Group of my friends & I bought a Jodiac with EvinRude motor(Ram Injection 90HP 2000 model). <br /><br />After engine runs 10mins or so, I get continuous warning beep with Engine Check Light on and RPM goes up by itself. After engine cools down it runs for another a few min.<br /><br />I have replaced Feul & Water Filter as Evinrude recommented at first place, but still same problem. So I have replaced water pump(impeller) as secound choice, but same problem.<br /><br />Actually, this Jodiac was sit for whole one year just in parking lot due to previeous owner's health problem.<br /><br />Anywayz, this Jodiac is really rock for 10 mins after launch but after 10mins, it is dead on water.<br /><br />Any suggestion??<br /><br />Some tech say it is heating isssue & need to replace temperture sensor.......???

Hey bud, I had the same problem, your engine is overheating, you are not getting enough water pressure into the motor to cool it, that is why after it sits, it fires back up and will heat up again and the consistent beep will come back. You need to change your impeller most likely.

If all you changed was the impeller, you need to replace the rest of the components. Go thru the entire cooling system including thermostats and senders. Make sure it truly is getting hot enough to go into S.L.O.W. and not getting a false sensor.<br /><br />Your service manual will take you thru it completely.<br /><br />Good luck!

Thanks for all your replies.<br /><br />Since I am new to boat engines,is Senders mean sensor?<br /><br />By any chance, isn't this more related to feul line problem because suddenly my engine goes up up 3~4k RPM when it start buzzing..<br /><br />Thanks again.

There are a number of malfunctions that can make the check engine lite come on. A laptop with the diagnostic software is needed to see what code is saved in the engine computer. Since you said the motor revved up by itself, it may have a leaking fuel pump diaphragm. See a knowledgable trained tech.<br /><br />If your motor was overheating, the HOT lite would come on.

Thanks for your information!!<br /><br />Unfortunally my tech guy haven't find the software yet. He said he got test cable to notebook but no software yet. <br /><br />He said that engine seemed normal while testing at tech shop but when I brought my baby out, she buzzed off with high RPM after 10mins + or -. I hope the tech guy get the software soon or he said he will replace the sender(i guess temp sensor) first. Then we will see how things going.<br />Once again..... <br /><br />Thanks for your help in advance.

Your best bet is to find an experienced shop with trained techs to service your motor. You can call Bombardier customer service for dealers near you, or you can visit www.evinrude.com.
