Re: Help debunk a myth

i gotta say that this myth is BS i've had a couple of boats and never been happy to see them go. I have always had flat bottoms and some of my happiest days have been with the blind on the boat and duck hunting with friends and family, or the time that i took my 5 year old brother out on it to go fishing and while im working on the motor i hear BLOOP BLOOP i turn around to see my brother throwing the spark plugs in the water saying " LOOK THEY SINK!!!!" unfortunately i didnt have a spare set......

This song is dedicated to you Mr. Acampora ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HGf7r2F5OU&feature=related :D

Happiest days on a boat are the days when I'm not home and working. Quite honestly my best times were borrowing the neighbors floating living room... er ummm... pontoon. Getting a couple of sandwiches. A cooler full of drinks. Setting out to a destination on the lake. Shut the engine off. Tunes on, consume said sandwiches and beverages. Relax, and enjoy the sun and 80? breezes of July/August with my GF.

My best memories are after an afternoon of skiing. Drifing with good friends, a bucket of cold KFC chicken, and some half warm sodas.

This ones for you Frank! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWwFk64SLDw

If 'it' aint in yer veins, then maybe it is the best day when you get rid of your boat... But if it is in your veins, then no... freakin'... way.

Happy boating.

You summed up my father, only had one boat and it was the boat I learned everything on and gave me a love for the water:). He was increasingly frustrated owning such a costly item and it gave him 0 pleasure. I myself was heartbroken that day (18ish?) and have owned my own boat since;) Currently, him and my mom will take my boat out if they have the desire and I'm glad for them as I believe he truely enjoys it now that it isnt "his".

For my partner and I, we will ALWAYS have a boat, I will make the other sacrifices I need to in order to afford this luxuary as we have made the best memories on the water and I couldnt imagine being without:cool:

I call BS as well.

Taking delivery is always a fun day, but the absolute happiest days are the ones spent on the water. It's a bit bittersweet to part with one; can't say those are happy days.

For me the saying is a joke just like B.O.A.T (bust out another thousand)

Its just a way of expressing a boaters struggles..
By the way I am always happy:D:D:D

I havent been egged on my boat yet, so technically my best day has yet to come.

and since I have had many adventures in boat repair, I am still siding on the "day I bought my boat" as my best day ever.

the saying that hits home for me is

A boat is a hole in the water you just pour money into.

Sorry to say but I think I was happiest when I watched them tow away the old boat from my driveway that my ex left me. It had a rotton floor and an engine that wouldn't run. But I'm looking for a good boat so I hope happier times are ahead!

The first full WOT blast from a deadstop to 50 MPH in the spring, in the Chaparral 186 SSI.

The first time I open up to WOT the 16' Lowe Aluminum / 9.9 to chase fish.

Forgot. When my Son in Law visits & I give him the key untill he leaves. NONE better.

I have a lot of good boating days.

Wife had 1 good day. She PICKED the Chaparral.

I am at my best on the boat with my son and daughter and they are catching BIG fish!! Nothing beats the smile on a childs face when they are bringing in a Musky or bib Walleye.

Happiest time for me was the first time my wife, kids and I spent the night on board at anchor. It was a great time that I'll never forget. I've had countless other awesome boating excursions, but that one tops them all.

Re: Help debunk a myth

the best day was the day i picked mine up, knowing it needs work. As it was said b4, you dont need to be on the water to enjoy it. Sitting and working in the boat with a mate and a drink at this time of year is great. The next best day will be NYE this year on Sydney Harbour, as im taking my old mum out for a night on the water. mind you so she can watch fireworks up close for 20min i will be on the water for 2 1/2 days lol... As for the "other" bits, im single but there is still hope :D

Re: Help debunk a myth

The current best day will be the day I catch a keeper sized Flounder or Weakie on mine.

The wife was the only one to get a keeper Fluke this summer.

One good time to come will be the first "Sunset Pizza Cruise" on the "new" (to me) boat next summer.

We used to do that with my daughter on our old boat (73 MFG Gypsy 15).
Get a pizza from Grotto's and some sodas, head out into the Delaware Bay out of Roosevelt Inlet and drift off Broadkill Beach and watch the sunset, then head back in the dark.

Good times.

I can't wait for spring to get started installing the new HDS7 I bought myself for Christmas and get going on the little fixer up projects I identified over the last season.

It's frustrating and sometimes embarrasing when things don't work right, but it's very satisfying to fix those bugs yourself.
