Help: easiest way to get boat off trailer?

Bought a new boat, will pick it up soon with my trailer. Haven't sold my old boat yet so i will store it at my shop until i sell it. I was wondering if there was an easy way to get my 16' bow rider off of my roller trailer and up on blocks for when i do sell it. Thanks.

I used heavy duty cargo straps (5K) attached the two hooked ends to the two rear lift hooks at transom,attached other ends to my crane and pulled boat off trailer..as 1/2 of boat was off placed cut up 6x6 timbers under transom...6x6 under port / starboard ends at transom 6x6 under hull in center of boat,then slowly pulled trailer out from under.worked great. when i reversed procedure it went the same.

NOTE: A concrete driveway or large plywood pads are necessary to prevent the blocks from settling.

1- lower tongue all the way down.
2- put blocks (with wood pads) snugly under both rear corners of the boat.
3- raise tounge as high as possible. The stern should now be off the trailer and on the blocks.
4- put a jack (with a wood block) firmly under the forward bow (but not TOO forward) and lower the tongue until the trailer is not touching the boat.
5- pull the trailer forward as far as possible until it touches the bow block.
6- raise the jack and firmly place another block just behind the trailers cross beam.
7- repeat #5 and #6 until all cross beams are clear.
8- remove the jack and carefully pull the trailer out from under the boat.
9- install stabilizing blocks on each side of the bow block (usually under the spray rails).

I've done this a few times and it can be a very tedious procedure depending on how many cross beams and axles you have. Just take your time and make sure the boat is stable before moving anything. Oh, BTW- when you're done make sure the bow is higher than the stern and the plug is out....

I've done my 27'er several times as Arks has described. If it can be done with a 8,000lb boat it can be done easily with a 16'er. Good Luck an be careful......SS

I did mine kind of like marine4003.
But the boat was in the garage. Heavy straps around the bow area to the raffers lifted the front nicely as the transom was on blocks.
Just rolled the trailer out.

the strap works fine as long as it does not slip forward.

But the boat was in the garage. Heavy straps around the bow area to the raffters lifted the front nicely as the transom was on blocks.
Just rolled the trailer out.

Hm...an acquaintance of mine did the same thing in his garage, and used the rafters to run slings through and hoist his 18ft bayliner cc trophy off the trailer. Too bad he failed to realize the "rafters" were his trusses, not made to hold forces that way, and 1/4 of his roof collapsed over the garage. Yea, that wasnt such a great idea.

Well you have to use a little common sense here.
I wouldn't try lifting a complete loaded boat on 2x4 rafters.
I rested the heaviest part of the boat (the transom with the motor on it) on blocks. Then lifted the bow.
I also wedged 8ft 2x4 from the floor to the blocks bolted to the ceiling for safety. So most of the weight was transfered to the concrete floor.

If you think about it there are lots of ways to raise the weight of a boat off a trailer.

i have seen people tie a rope to the back of the boat and a tree undo the bow eye and put bales of hay under the boat and pull the trailer out from under the boat.small boat works great.

Thanks for the help guys. Did just as Arks suggested, took about an hour to safely unload my boat. Cant wait to pick up the new one.
