I have been puzzled the last few days because I have not been receiving responses to many of my Emails.

Now I think many of them are not being received.

I am now in BIG trouble with one correspondent who thinks I am ignoring incoming Emails, but I have responded to each one! :(

What is likely to be going on here? Is something about my IP causing them to be blocked? Is there something wrong with aol? Is there some worm or virus that can cause this?

How can I get confirmation that an Email I send has been read? Is there any way to do that?

I am sick to my stomach with worry about this, guys. Really appreciate any help.

AOL has a very good online support team. You can open a chat session with them and they can probably fix the problem. AOL email is wierd because of the way they use active x files. Because of it you cant use Outlook or outlook express

To confirm your email sent make sure you send a CC to yourself. If the mail dont come back it probably never went.

Good luck JB

While you're troubleshooting with AOL, open a freebie yahoo or hotmail account temporarily to notify your correspondents that you're not ignoring them.

After being an AOL user for about 10 years now, I've found that most of the support people don't have the slightest clue what they're doing and aren't qualified to clean the floors at McDonalds. Usually they give you a response completely unrelated to the question you asked. Fortuneately I only use AOL for email and only spend $3/month on it...

Z, I have an AOL account that I only use for email. Who do I talk to to get that $3/mo deal? Chief ;)

Re: HELP!! Email trouble.

For the three years that I used AOL I had good sucess with online support. JBs thread was in search of a solution to his problem with his email. I suggested that he use online support. Updates to Explorer could have disabled active X and that could be the problem that AOL could easily fix for him. Slamming AOL is not a solution to his problem.

Re: HELP!! Email trouble.

As was suggested, open a temp Yahoo or Hotmail account and try sending/receiving email with yourself. Depending on the mailer s/w used, cc'ing yourself may do nothing more than move a copy of the msg into your incoming box, so that is not always a dependable method of checking.

JB if the problem is with only one particular individual (or individuals on the same ISP in a network) then they may have your email addy in the "spam" filter. Automatically dumps it to a "spam" folder or deleted items. May wanna check with 'em.

I think you nailed it, jimchere.

I have been able to verify that other correspondents are opening my Emails, but this one still doesn't get them.

Phone call resolved the anger, so the crisis is over.

Thanks to all who helped. :)
