Re: help finding a long block

Would really like to help but this is in the range of a personal shopper kind of thing. My friend just picked up a rebuilt 7.4 Mag from Mercruiser because a 385HP engine is hard to find. We did find some cheaper ones but after looking past the web sites we noticed a thing or two which did not look above board. Now a 3.0 should be available from a bunch of folks. I would say if your looking for a brand new crate engine, pick it up from who ever gives you the best price. Make sure to check the BBB for any reports and looking at google maps to zoom in on their location because a slick web site can hide a bunch of fly by night folks (being kind here, would actually say theives). If your buying a rebuild and yours cannot be rebuilt then do your home work. If yours can be rebuilt maybe check locally for a reputable shop and take it to them.
