Help finding serial number/ year on 70-80 mercury 50 ho

I just bought a 1975 bass boat and i’m Trying to find the serial number/year of the mercury 50 hp outboard. The only number plate we can find is on the front of the transom plate: 4144882 Could this be the model number? If so what year would it be?

I would guess it is a 1975 model.------Look over the wiring on the motor and inside the control box.----There are known issues.

That is the serial number. Finding Merc outboard parts is with the serial number.

These are the Merc and Sierra impellers for your 1975. Ignore the prices, it's an old snip for my older Merc 500 using the same impeller.
