hi guys,
i have a 1991 wellcraft 18 ft. center console fish boat. the floor is connected to the cap in one piece. the floor is really not sitting on anything..the stringers are there but not attached to floor. when you walk on the floor it flexes just a little but the wood looks good..is this normal..anyway i can stiffen it if i want? thanks for help..

Re: help.. floor in wellcraft boat...

The 18CC Wellcraft always had a bit of a flex to the floor. Aft of the console is where you noticed it the most. A little flex may be normal if a big guy is walking on it but there is a chance that based on the age of the boat the deck could be getting soft. This happens most often when an encapulated deck core begins to rot, sometimes if subfloor looks good the glue holding the layers of plywood together has started to fail weaking the ply and causing the deck to flex. Either way process to properly cure the problem is messy, time consuming, and if you pay to have someone else do it expensive. My advice is to live with if you can, and let the next guy take care of it.
