please help, i have this 1987 johnson outboard it was used as a kicker
i bought the motor and did somthing so stupid. i didnt run it befor i bought it stupid stupid stupid iam trying to start this motor it sounds like its getting no gas when i lifted the cover i saw this hose can some one tell me what this hose is for one side is connected to the choke please see pic

It would be helpful if you give the horsepower of your 87 Johnson.

From the picture, that looks like the high speed jet that would screw into the bottom of the carburetor. It would be very odd for someone to have unscrewed that unless they did it to drain the carburetor for storage. If it is the high speed jet, then when you crank the motor to start it, gas would be pulsing out of it.

I think it's a priming tube source from the drain plug on the front of the carb bowl (at bottom of carb). If it is, screw it in and you'll likely run. Gas should've come POURING out of there when you squeezed the fuel bulb from tank when disconnected.
