I don't mean to be a wise guy, but as a dealer don't you know the laws and loopholes in your state? Just wondering (?)

Anyway, does the boat have the registration numbers on the bow? Seems like the title people could look it up the records from those. They can here in FL.

Hmmm...no title, ground off / missing Hull ID. You might be able to get the Hull ID from Bayliner if the serial number is still on the engine...wait, let me guess, the ID plate of the engine was polished and you can't read it either.

That boat could be hot...

nope the serial numbers are there. however i called bayliner and they didn't list the engines and hull numbers together in the 80's. everthing is there it's just the damage was to the back i can see the repair work from the engine compartment. i thought like you at first so i waited till i could talk to bayliner about the numbers

There isn't a home made option in MS as far as I could find. I can't believe Bayliner can't reference the engine Ser.#! Slack record keeping...

You are probably going to have to try and backtrack the owners to find something with the Hull ID on it. This is the statement from the Mississippi DWFP's web site regarding missing Hull ID's:

"Beware
When you buy a used boat and/or motor, make sure the boat has a Hull Identification Number (HIN) and that the motor has a serial number; if they do not, the DWFP will seize your boat and/or motor."
