Help!!! I just bought a Starcraft CSS designed by Art Carlson

I got this boat and it says it is a Starcraft CSS150and I can't find anything about it. It is like it doesn't exist. I think the CSS stands for Contemporary Sport Style. It is open bow and seats six. it has a 50hp that the cover says Star on it and the throttle control says Chrysler. Please if anyone knows anything teach me all you can. Thanks. I will get pics asap

I know there were Chrysler outboards with Starcraft branding on them. I've never of the CSS. We'd love to see some pics.

The CSS was the predecessor to the Medalist line of the late 1980s. Starcraft had an agreement with Chrysler for a couple years in the mid 1980s to rig their boat with Starcraft badged Chryslers. It folded when Chrysler sold to U.S. Marine (Force).

its a carlson signature series boat. Was designed by art carlson. here is mine

I just recently purchased a Starcraft CSS Select 160 B by Art Carlson. Looks very similar to yours only mine is 16' long. I'd like to know if anyone has a manual for the CSS 160 and if they know what motor came with the boat originally. Mine has an Evinrude 140TL outboard.

The "original" motor is whatever the dealers rigged them with. Some from that era came with Star (Chrysler/Force) motors, but not exclusively.

As for a manual for the boat - not likely. They had manuals for the drivetrain (outboard or I/O) but rarely for the boats themselves...

There are three buttons on the dash.
One is lights and one is the horn.
What is the other one?

Well this is way out of our area of knowledge but I did find this in the 84 brochure.


Looks like 84 was the first year for these boats but the smallest was a 16 footer. I don't have 85, but the 86 Brochure shows a 15 along with several others.

I have purchased the exact same boat.

Anyone know if there is somewhere to get the large decal on the hull??? The guy I bought the boat from painted the hull (right over the decals) with what looks to be tremclad Hoping to strip it and paint the hull white and add the decal if I can find one or possibly have one made..

actually mine is painted! I stripped the old decal off and painted the decal on as it was impossible to find a replacement one.

I just picked up one of these CSS 160 Art Carleson's. Originally outfitted with a merc 115 OB (still on it). Needs some upholstery... Pretty good shape. Also looking for the side decal. Anyone else out there do any rehab on these? Or are they just a dime a dozen?
