Help, I need a bigger boat and can't find a 25'-26' starcraft

I am making plans to leave the starmada if I can't find a 25' to rebuild. I would like a big starcraft but they just are not around. I want a tuna fishing boat and more room than what my 21' Cheif. offers.
So I am looking at building a 26 foot great alaskan Renn Tolman skiff, with twin outboards. Local guy CNC cuts the hull kits and is currently building a 28 foot.
West Coast Boat Works

If anyone finds a good 25-26 foot starcraft in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Northern Calif. or such. Days drive or less from Bend, Oregon let me know. I am not against rebuilding another starcraft, just these big boat are not found near me. I would convert an I/O boat to twin outboard, so I don't care what power plant it has.
I have time I probably won't buy a boat kit for 12 months or so.
Thanks,

Hmmm, I do believe that fella might be including the trailer in his 25' measurement.

Ya know, the other thing that doesn't look quite right to me is the windshield matched up with that cabin. I do believe the windshield (and boat probably) is Holidayish and the cabin is added on maybe???

See what I'm seeing???

Looks like the original W/S was beyond repair and this is the work-around. In one of the interior shots, I see a lot of wood framing for the windows - Not factory, for sure.

Don't by that one in Lapine, Elkhunter

Let it sit for a couple years until I'm ready for it, please

May be for $1000 I would drive to Lapine to look at that one. She looks a little rougher than I am looking for and the trailer is not good, windshield looks wrong, it's a fixer upper. That does not look any bigger than my 21', maybe its 25' but looks small compared to the other 25-26 boats you guys have posted.
Attached is a picture of what I am really looking for.

getting close, I did not see what part of Utah? I am thinking $1000 might be the right price, that thing is gutted, no windows, no top, no floor. It's ripe for the picking just not at $2400.

If it was a 26' I would be tempted. 24' only 3' longer than I have.
Keep looking we have some time, I won't pull the plug on buying a wooden boat kit for at least a year.

Got kit prices today. Total estimated cost 24' (26k) 26' (36k) that includes 5k for trailer and 12/14 k for outboards.
26' kit runs $5,500; 24' it runs $4,300.

What kit are you looking at Elk? It's been one of my bucket list items to build a boat or boat kit.

Admiral,
the Kit I would be looking at is the 24' jumbo or a 26' great alaskan. (Renn Tolman design)
West Coast Boat Works

I want the 26' for fishing but the cost increases with that extra 2' but you get a bigger boat. Take more hp, kit cost is about $1,500 more, I am not 100% sure I am up to building a 26' for my first boat. I would use the more expensive mahogany plywood (lighter, stronger) when compared to fir marine plywood.

The Jumbo has a good sized cockpit. Plenty of fishing room.

LOL, that stuff is gross....

Just mix it in with some macs n' cheeze, few shots of hot sauce, mmmmmmmm! That's like my favorite backcountry meal!:eyebrows:

But ya, at the house, it's kinda gross:upset:

I am kind of thinking that too, some stretch the jumbo to 25' which I would try to atleast get her to 24+, because our ocean bar restrictions generally go 18/20/22/24/26 restrictions. If your boat is 24'1" you are ok if the restriction is set at 24'.

I don't only want a bigger boat for tuna fishing, but halibut, sea bass, ling cod, salmon. There are many times the weather is such if I had a bigger boat with twin motors I would go fishing. But with a 21 and single i/o I just won't go.
Halibut are 10-30 miles out some of the best fishing is 30 miles (won't venture past 20 miles in my current boat).
Many times bottom fishing the wind picks up and to get to port you have to head into the weather, bigger boat would allow me more fishing days. salmon at times are 20 miles out also.
Then with 4 POB's on board the little 21' gets alittle small to try and fish 4. I make due but some more room would be helpful and nice.
We will see what is to come, I have a budget to buy a fixer upper now 2-3k but not enough to start a Jumbo build.
Keep an eye out we still have time. If I built a boat I would keep my starcraft until the other boat was ready. Don't plan on missing a summer season with no boat.

That's a good plan. :) The enclosed cabin will be really nice in foul weather too. I saw that during The Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival next month they're offering 10% off kit prices.

Take a look a this - it is a big boat and it is aluminum. Put a nice diesel motor in it and your good to go!
