I'm back and still have problem with over heating over 3000 rpms. New impeller, new thermostat, new circulation pump, new manifolds and risers. I can run the motor at the dock at 3500 rpm and it stays cool, then temp rises a little when I idle it back. The Vacuum goes to 16 at 3500 rpms. Out on the water the motor heats up with in 2 or 3 minutes at 3000 and the vacuum goes down to 5 or so. Any Ideas would be a help because I'm at a total loss.

I have a 1973 mercruiser 302 888

Thanks rharry

Have you tried taking it to a shop where the guy that is working on it does it for a living? Not to say that you do not know what you are doing but a little more is at stake when if it does not get fixed he does not get paid.
