Silvertip, interesting solution  but I am not into scamming people... I am going to polish the SS up like a mirror and post all over the web. I paid $200 for it. It is nearly a $500- prop. I will put it up for $225, allowing the wiggle room that I need. Surely someone will take it off my hands. If any of you on this board are interested I will let it go for the $200 plus shipping.

There is a very active prop market on eBay. I look there a lot for pricing, watching a few auctions with what I am wanting to buy or sell for a couple of weeks before bidding on something I want or auctioning somethng I have for sale, so I get an idea of what the market is like.

Hi; I too got ripped on craigslist on an outboard. After the fact knew it was partly my fault too. However I myself have had nothing but success on ebay. esp. if you have a paypal acct. Listed my outboard on ebay xactly for what it was and sold for a 30% loss. Better than being stuck with something you dont want.

Sir, since you and I have very similar boats I'll share this info with you in case it helps for some future reference -I own a 1990 Eclipse 21.5 Cuddy, 5.0, Alpha One. Engine is rated WOT of 4,200 to 4,800rpm. It runs 47mph at 4,700rpm (original speedo and tach) with a 14-1/2" X 19 pitch prop with two people, one dog, a lot of drinks and ice, a too-heavy anchor (that I'm trashing) and two batteries. This year I'd like to find and try a 21 pitch prop (of around 13-7/8" to 14-1/4" dia) to gain a little more speed (maybe three to four mph) without over-revving the engine, since I need a spare anyway.

Your Eclipse appears to be turning good rpms and speed already. If it will do 53mph with just you in it and hopefully 44 to 47mph with eight people on board, it's set up pretty darn well right now.

This would be scaming someone else! Which would make you no better the the seller. It people like YOU that make ebay and craigs list an unsafe place.

Just find out what the prop fits and sell it that way, someone is bound to want it, even if you get half your money back. At least you can sleep at night knowing you did the right thing.... Just sayin

Come on folks -- follow this. You are after the original dude that supposedly scammed the OP. If the OP painted the prop, stamped it with a phoney number and was up front with the description (which he now knows within reason what it fits) the only one scammed is the original seller. Anyone else is buying whatever the description says. And besides, what's wrong with selling something back to someone for a profit.
