Re: help identify model

I've got a bit:
Johnson Model V4SL-18
Year: 1966
HP: 80
WOT RPMS: 4500
Displacment: 89.5 CID
Cylinders: V-4
Weight: 226.5 - 240.5 lbs
Gearcase ratio: 20:23
Fuel/Oil mix: 50:1 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil.
Spark plugs: Champion J4C gapped at .030"
Picture
From the Old OMC Site

I belive that's an electric shift model. If that's the case, use only BRP/OMC 'Premium Blend' outboard gearcase lube in the lower unit. You can get it from your local Johnson dealer.

Re: help identify model

the previous owner mentioned that there are two levers on the throttle control - one shifting, one for speed.

he claims it is running great. are these known to be a reliable motor?

he also mentioned that the water intake is different than normal and will not allow for the use of muffs for testing. what's the deal with this?

does this have a charging system built in?

Re: help identify model

i believe the serial number is J2654747

would this be the electramatic or electric model? the motor hood says electramatic, but the shifting appears to be cable driven which i think would mean it is the electric...
