As part of an estate I have a Sea King small outboard motor. Here are the details: Sea King, M.W. & Co., 1946 44, model #64EA-9002A, serial #381-03236. Any help you can give me on this is appreciated. I need the info to be able to sell it - HP, year etc. Thanks.

Re: Help identify Sea King outboard

That's an odd number for a Sea King. However, the 9002A part of the model number corresponds to a model GG9002A 1956 5hp 2-cyl. model Made by Gale. It shares many parts with the 5hp Johnsons and Evinrudes of the same era.

Look under the cowling. If it has two spark plugs and no fins on the cylinder block, that's probably what it is.

Look at the model number again and see if you haven't, maybe, misread the letters.

I hope that helps.

Re: Help identify Sea King outboard

Did a double check on the model number and it is correct, as I wrote. There is only 1 spark plug. There is stamped number on the housing where the spark plug is - 1954 30 and then a stamped S. The serial number is on a plate attached to the bracket that secures it to the boat. Any other thoughts?

64EA is the big clue. "64", reversed, is "46"....1946.
EA means it was made by Evinrude
381 is the Evinrude model number for their 1hp motor.
So, you have a 1946, one horsepower motor, made by Evinrude. Evinrude model 381.
