Is this a marker or can be used as one? If so how do you use it to mark a structure?

Make sure the line will spin off it freely, drop it in the water. The weight will pull the line down & the buoy will float so you can find your spot again. I've seen them used for marking structure for fishing but it would work for a chest full of gold too.

No, no, no, no. I thought everyone knew that X marks the spot.

If the line on it is longer than the depth of water you throw it in! It could be used a s a marker, I dont think that is its intended use. I like the "h" shaped markers They will not spool off more line than needed to hit the bottom, and they have a larger weight on them. This keeps the marker above your hot spot.
