I recently got a Triton 1550 Crappie Aluminum boat with a 15 HP Mariner attached. I am trying to find the year it was made, but can't find a data plate anywhere. I have found several numbers stamped on engine parts. It appears to be a Japanese model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. See the attached pictures below.

You should have a plate on the swivel bracket with the serial number on it.

Thanks for the reply pekstrom. The data plate is missing. I can see where it was riveted, but it and the rivets are missing.

Hmm, unfortunately I think it is going to be very difficult to find the year without the serial number. There were several different models of those outboards and it seems a lot of the parts spanned the different models and several years.

Perhaps this link may help some, unless you've already seen it.

I know they are talking about serial numbers but there are also a few pictures to compare yours to.

Maybe someone else on this forum knows some more details about this motor.

Thanks pekstrom and flyingscott, I have looked through the list and a few others I had found in the sticky and elsewhere. I have also narrowed it down to early to mid '80s Yamaha (Japan). Hopefully this will be enough to get parts that it may need.

Got a better pic of the number on the carb plate it appears to be 6E870 3C. Attached is the pic.
