Help! I'm being dragged to the dark side! (or should I say glass-side)

I purchased a donor boat which is fiberglass, with the intent of taking the 140 merc off of it and putting it into my Chieftain. The problem is that the donor, which is a 16' FIBERGLASS speedboat, will take maybe an hour or 2 or work besides unwinterizing the motor to have in the water. My SC on the other hand, probably will take much more time and $$ and won't be done till mid summer at the very earliest. Is it a problem to use a donor boat while fixing an aluminum Starcraft? :) Any of y'all start fixing the interior then get to the engine last? Oh, and for those of you who are in this neck of the woods know how important having water transportation to Gull Island is for Jobbi Nooner! :D

Now wait a minute, I'm not sure....

Are you in located in Midland or Port Huron?

Well, I'd be building just about the whole Islander before I install the driveline so I think your suggestion to run the glasser till the Chief is ready for the engine is borderline reasonable.

BUT! We ought not hear of you enjoying yourself on that glasser! Better not be any photos of you having fun on the lake with the glasser, making friends with other glassers...

and, we better not see a some thing like "well I have really grown fond of this glasser and I think I'll rebuild her"

:eek::eek::eek:

...we are watching.

Cheers man:D

I've been taking out my new(to me) fiberglass canoe while my aluminum boats are being worked on. So I don't have a problem with your plan.:)

Like practicing on ugly women till your confident enough to grab the supermodel...lol

Jas, I was stationed on the southern border for a couple of years, so my Chief was sitting at my folk's house in Midland. I have since transferred up here to Port Huron to be able to use her! And no, no pics or glasser friends!

Yeah, jobbie nooner is fast approaching, so you gotta do what you gotta do. Come over to the glass side.

Jeez you guys are harsh! Must be 'cause your kidneys are aching from pounding waves in your lummies! After 1973Chieften approaches that first wave in his glasser, grits his teeth for the impact - that never comes - he'll realize what he's been missing. ;)

FWIW - I've owned both glassers and lummies ? I speak from experience...
