Help in Identifying Hose

Hi all, My 1999 Johnson 130 Looper runs awesome, but had stalled a few times at idle last week, which it never did before so I figured it was time for new plugs, when I popped the cover off yesterday, I saw this hose there, did a quick look around and couldn't find where it may have popped of from. I followed it and it goes under the engine somewhere. It is not a fuel line. I figured I would come ask the experts!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

That is a fuel hose, hooking the primer pump to the carb's. You will have a vacuam leak, plus no priming to two carb's, making the engine hard to start. That has to be hooked up, and possibly the fuel Tee replaced.

Thanks RJ. Any idea where it gets hooked up to? I ran it today, and no fuel came out of it, and putting my finger on it didn't do much.

I just need to find out where it goes and I can hook it back up right? Oh, and what do you mean by fuel-Tee?

Thanks again.

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

The OD looks too big to be a primer hose but the ID looks too small to be anything else except maybe a recirculation hose. Where does it come from at the bottom.

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

I could only see so much b/c it was under the engine, but I followed it as much as I could and it looks like it goes to a "T" type connector, but that is all I could see. Couldn't tell where the other hoses on the T went to. But they were all under the engine block.

Thanks for the help.

Could it go into the front black cover? Excuse my bad terminology I don't what it is called. The air cover maybe?

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

It sure could, but the hose that goes into the airbox is usually larger ID. Look for a hole that the hose fits snug into.

It went to the right link but, something that iboats is doing with the frame causes it to not let you past the login try copying the url to a separate window. I promise this sight is very helpful and has views of your motor.

http://epc.brp.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=e&brands=ej&lang=e

The mother sight is http://www.brp.com but, I haven't navigated the sight to get to the above url.

I got my original link off of the texasfishingforum.com

If a black bar appears when you try to use a link, try clicking the words "remove this frame" before continuing.

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

Thanks guys, I got the link working. Still a little hard to find what you are looking for but I will figure it out.

I pulled off the airbox and I THINK I found where it goes. There was only one possible opening for it, based on the length of the hose. It did seem to run better, but still stalling out every once in a while. I had turned up my idle a little bit before I did this, about a week ago, so I kind of figured that when I hooked this hose back up that I would have to turn the idle back down but I didn't. Thats of course if I have it in the right place now!

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

That looks a lot like the vacuum hose attached to the base of the air silencer base on my '89 evinrude 150, which is the black manifold-looking thing bolted to the carbs. There should be a nipple at the bottom of the back of the silencer (facing the engine) where this line attaches to; you have to detach this to fully remove the silencer, so if your silencer comes off without a rubber hose still attached-- that's where it goes...

Thanks wormboy, when yoiu say air silencer are you referring to the air box I mentioned earlier? You are prob right on the terminology, I just wanted to klnow what you meant.

When I pulled the air box off I only saw one possible place for it. It didn't fit perfect, it just kind of plopped in there. There was no nipple or anything.

Re: Help in Identifying Hose

yes-- the air silencer is probably what you meant by airbox; I'm just going by what the parts diagram at the brp site calls it on my motor (the site that cajun recommended above-- google "BRP parts catalog" and navigate from there). I looked at one of the digrams for a 99 johnson 130-- don't know your exac model-- and it looked like it might be different than mine. There is a hose called the "air silencer drain" that attaches to a nipple on the intake manifold at the engine, but it doesn't show a nipple on the air silencer--- maybe it just sticks in a hole as you describe? If you find the website and get to your model, look up the intake manifold diagram to see what i mean.
