I just bought a 22ft mako and it is outfitted with a 2001 johnson 225 with 143 hours. I am not a big fan of the Johnson and was thinking about doing a mercury verado. My motor currently weighs about 470 pounds so I could do the 175hp verado which would be comperable in weight. How would the verado 175 compare to the johnson 225? thanks guys

You would be under powered w/a 22 Mako. Nothing wrong with the Johnson motors and it would be a very expensive swap.
