Re: help manifold and risers

It should be quite Warm... Not HOT....
I'd say you've got Issues with the Raw Water side of your cooling system....

Re: help manifold and risers

I believe the metal gasket, seperates the closed cooling system, from the raw water system.....
The Worry about wether to Clean or Replace the risers is, IF they rust out to the Inside..You Loose the Motor....
I'd Buy New... Use the old ones for Doorstops...

Hey bolo, check to se if your impellars are pumping adequate water to the heat exchanger. The temp guage wont rise unless the water temp is high. If no water then no guage reaction. It cant measure hot air. Hope that helps.

thanks rod, this is what i will do in the morning. disconnect the hose that bring the seawater to the heat exchanger. start the motor. if it is pumping sea water strongly, then water pump is not problem, ok??? where the hose goes into that regulator make sure ater is leaving it freely, make sure seawater is leaving heat exchnager freely, what else should i back flush heat exchanger?? thanks for all the good advice.
am i doing the right test????

bolo,

SOme of the earlier 3.7L engines had a smaller heat exchanger. You might want to see which one you have. The exchanger from a 3.7L 185 hp. was larger, but will fit a 170.

Re: help manifold and risers

ok guys i did all the above test one motor is not over heating any more, but that motor is not charging the battery.i think the altnator is dead.how do i test to find out if it is charging.?? the other motor dont have an altnator it has that original charging kit, at one time it was i think, over charging because the charging gage was all the way then as the motor runs it comes back to normal. right now i think i had it, time to call the mechanic.

any more input will be great thanks.
