I have narrowed it down to RED, BLUE, or YELLOW. Of course, I'd like to hear other choices as well. I think the blue would show less of the surface imperfections, but every boat is blue. I drove to the marinas the other day for inspiration, and then I saw the bright yellow Sea Tow boats. Whoa!

Yellow has its pluses of course. High visibility, doesnt get as hot, looks pretty sporty. The only real brawback is it will show dirt and scratches a bit more i would think.

Red is bright also and sporty as well, both are good color choices. Id stay away from the blue imo

Good luck!

he's looking to paint the bottom. Who cares if it gets hot on the "bottom" of the boat...lol

I voted blue...but I like black also. What kind of boat??

Re: Help me choose bottom color

It's on my center console bay boat.

Here's another combo I just came up with... How about ALL WHITE? White boats look bigger, won't show scratches, but harder to keep clean. The rub rail will be black of course, and I need to repaint the trailer (black!) and this weekend I am putting in a nice dark gray carpet. I could do a 3"-4" boot stripe at the water line.

is it on a trailer most of the time or is it left in the water. If it's not alreay painted I would leave it alone. I wish the previous owner of mine had not painted the bottom.

Obviously i was making a point in general about the lighter pigment paint holding less heat regardless of if its bottom or topside, it is viable information Mr Toole. You get your name honest i guess.

not to make this a pissing contest, then why bring up the heat retention if it's on the bottom?? Does cooler bottom paint make you go faster, does cooler bottom paint help you catch more fish, of maybe cooler bottom paint makes you feet cooler......:D.....if you would like to discuss the nature of my user name put it in a PM.....

I'd leave it white. Easier to touch-up later. I wouldn't worry about repainting the trailer either. Black accent on the gunnels maybe?

Like what? I was just thinking of a 2" or even 1 1/2" strip just above the chine.

Where are you in Mississippi? I am in Madison, just 10 miles north of Jackson. Reservoir Dog.
