Help me choose new dash gauges!

Hi Guys and Gals,

Update:

Apparently, man cannot live on black or white alone. This according to the Admiral. :lol: She says I need to consider more options, and opined that tan or beige colors are worth a look. So at the risk of screwing up my polling results, here are the gauges I'm considering. All of the Faria's have stainless steel bezels. The lone Teleflex has a dark plastic bezel.

I like the white - I too have a Sea Ray and they are White with a silver bezel.

Yep...the Chesapeake's are really nice. I like the stainless steel rings which will complement my SS steering wheel perfectly.

What year is your SR? I'd be interested in knowing when they started using white gauges.

The white is easier to read at night.

Well.... In my constant state of hibernation I was totally wrong. You see Seville, all I see is white outside and it has finally gone to my brain. Cabin fever is what they say. :facepalm: My gauges are Black with SS Bezel....I still like the white though....

Gauges were white and taupe backed before black faced gauges were ever thought of. Gauges in my '51 Chevy are actually silver

Personally I like the Faria Euro SS but in their white color instead of the beige color. The needles and values are easier to see and look new, fresh and clean. In fact those are the exact gauges I'm going to install in my refurbishing/rebuilding boat project but with a horizontally brushed silver panel to coordinate better then a black panel. So I am a little bias in my selection... I already purchased my new gauges so I know for a fact that is the type going in the boat! JMHO!

I have professional red with red backlighting on my boat. Very easy on the night vision

Hi there Silly Seville, I was able to updated your poll with the additional gauges for you. That was the best I could do "picture number wise" without losing the votes you already have with names attached to them. Hope that helps, good luck.

In the poll editing section, I do not see an option to make it multiple choice to open it up for more voting. Silly Seville would have had to of done that in the beginning. I can only change the vote number but not the name of the voter.

So i'll add one vote to picture 5 and remove one vote from picture 3.

I think when it comes to gauges, the less cluttered and easy to read the better. I don't like black gauges because they pick up a lot of heat from the sun and I find they have never lasted as long for me as an ivory or white color. Personally I'd vote for the ivory euro ones. They just seem less cluttered and easier to read at a glance. jmho.

What are you going to do with the panel itself?

I wasn't sure if you were presenting this question to gm280 or me...but if it was for me, I haven't decided what is the best course of action for the panel. I do know that I want to sand it and repaint, but the choice of gauges will most definitely dictate the color of panel paint. I would love for you guys to chime in with ideas if you have successfully repainted panels or changed gauge colors before and what your results were.
