I'm planning on getting a new canvas top for my open bow and the cockpit. Should I go with 2 separate pieces, or should I go with a one piece that would cover everything? My current set up is 2 separate pieces. I think my pieces are the original pieces that came with the boat in 1990. Why? They are made out of vinyl. All the boat shops I've talked to said they don't use vinyl, but sunbrella canvas. Anyhow, I have one piece that snaps on the open bow portion, and one that snaps from the top of the windshield to the back of the cockpit. What are the advantages/disadvantages to a one piece vs what I have now?

From what I can obviously see wouldn't a one piece protect/keep water out better because it goes over the windshield?

Two piece is more convenient and allows more options.

If you tow (highway) with that cover, one piece is more resiliant.

Sunbrella is good stuff.

Full cover plus bow cover is ideal. I rarely used the main cockpit cover on my boat.

Kelly Cook

Here's what I don't get. Why spend the money for a one piece plus a bow cover when someone could get separate pieces?

:) Hey, I never said that's what I did, just what would be ideal. Boat came with both main cockpit and bow covers. I added a generic (cheap) mooring cover. Bow cover was useful on the lake. Mooring cover was for storage. Kinda left the main cockpit cover odd man out.

Kelly
