Re: Help me decided between 2 boats

You really need to get up close and personal with each one. A test run is mandatory. Feel how they operate, how they sound. Good points - bad points all around.
Just look at everything related to the boat. The condition of the motor, the general upkeep. Just too much to list. A proper marine survey would definately be the way to go. :D

Wow that's a tough choice because both of those boats are really cool! and look to be in excellent condition. However the first one definitely looks to have the potential of someone throwing up a picture of the boat in the water 10 years ago.......

no really enough info. no ages of the hull or motors.

Buying a boat

1st you need to decide what you want to use it for, fishing, cruising, or water sports.

2nd how many people adults, children you want on board of the average outing.

3rd outboard, inboard-outboard, or inboard power plant.

4th Budget, what you want to pay, and what you are willing to pay, when you find
Exactly what you want.

You can hire a marine surveyor, to inspect the boat, or you can do it yourself.

You are mainly looking for soft spots in the deck, transom, cracks, all signs of a rotten, under frame. You walk all over the deck, that a mallot, or hammer with wooden handle, using handle, tap all over the transom, a shape rap is good solid base, a thud, is questionable base.

The motor should be clean, no spots where the paint is discolored, or pealing from heat, having run hot. (This part for outboard motors Compression should be atleast 100psi, and within 10% of each other,)
Spark on all cylinders, good pee stream, check lower unit for water in oil.

The overall condition of the boat will tell you a lot, as to how it has been maintained.
boat motor combo, A 30 year old may be in better condition, than a 3 year old.

With the prices both these boats are at--- have them checked out professionally. You will save money in the long run. Do not use a surveyor connected to the present owner (ie the marina it might be kept at).
good luck

I'd love to be in your position ;). I like them both. Based on the ads only, I lean toward the first one for these reasons: color, OMC, kicker and the way the trailer is outfitted. Just my 2 cents.

The first one seems under powered and if the pics are recent even though I run and love my 70 hp evinrude I would be tempted to go with the 16.5 K&C if all checks out I also agree with tashasdaddy all valid points
