I need to find one of these lights:

http://www.iboats.com/Side_Marker_C...20432637--**********.152798703--view_id.40543

in RED lens, not amber.

The first person to find a source of such a product for me maybe gets a cookie or something...or maybe just my eternal gratitude!

My 1999 trailer has 4 of these wedge shaped lights, and one is busted, seems to be difficult to locate and I'd rather not replace all 4 just so they look the same, but I guess that's my second alternative.

Thanks, dudes.

I just replaced one of those exact lights. I got it from my dealer. Mine was on an EZ Loader trailer.

I could send you his e-mail, if you can't find it in the iboats store.

Just curious why your trailer would have so many red lights on it. If they are side markers, they should be amber except at the rear.

Anyways, good luck finding one. I have to replace an oval side marker on my 24' enclosed trailer and I could not find the exact one anywhere. There must me 3 dozen different mfg of these lights and no-one carries them all...

Amber is the color to be???? Not sure what you are reading. Your own very "legal" link states quite clearly:

Color requirements: Rear clearance/sidemarker lamps must be RED.

This busted one I have was at the rear, and therefore I need a red one, NOT amber. I can't find it. So I might have to change styles. Just thought I'd ask for assistance before changing them out to different styles.

I'll try to find a local EZ loader dealer and see if they can get one for me. Thanks for the tip.

And I do have 4 of these, but the 2 in front of the wheelwell are indeed amber. The 2 in the rear of the wheelwell are red. I can change them out easy enough to a different style, but would prefer to just find the one I need and install it as the others work just fine.

If anyone else has a different source in the meantime, please chime in. Thanks!

Eureka! That's the one! Too bad it appears I can't buy it direct from them...

But with part number now in hand, I can shop much more easily.

Thanks!

If it is a wedge style...then 9 times out of 10 it is a SIDE marker light. You know best as it is YOUR trailer, however if it REAR FACING, not just towards the rear, then it HAS to be red. If it is on the rear of trailer and it is SIDE facing then it needs to be amber. I just saw a perko one identical to yours at a local marina, I will check it tomorrow and let you know.....maybe I can ship you one or get you there number to arrange it.

Repoman -- you are mistaken about the side markers. Looking at the side of a trailer, the forward most marker is amber and the rear most marker is red.
If there are more than two markers on the side of the trailer, all others are amber EXCEPT the rear-most. You are correct in that facing the rear of the trailer, the ID (identification) lights are red. As for the side markers, most of the stop/turn/tail lamp assemblies (all in one) have the rear marker built into them and they are red. Even your car has amber markers up front and red at the rear.

Actually now that you say that, your right...It's anything BEHIND the rear wheel that has to be red......atleat that's what is with USDOT laws. But I get what you are saying.

Re: Help me find a sidemarker light please...

I have a 24' enclosed trailer that I use for my business... It has four clearance lights on the nose (2 on each side of the Vee), three amber marker lights down each side in amber (every 8') and then two red markers on each side at the rear (one at the top and one at the bottom). Then of course, red tail lights and 5 upper rear markers in Red above the rear ramp...

The entire idea behind a row of amber markers on the side with a single red at the rear is so you can tell which direction the vehicle is pointed. Much like the red and green nav lights on a boat/airplane.

Yes, just like on a Semi Truck, all side lights are AMBER and the very back side and rear lights are RED. This is done so signal the rear of the Vehicle/Trailer.. Also it will help you when checking in your mirror at night and towing your boat, you can just look back and see if the only RED light you have has cleared what you need it to.

It's not ONE light.....It's anything past the rear wheel. Granted on trailers of this size there is only room for one, maybe two lights at best. It does nothing for the driver in determining where the end of the vehicle is at. It wouldn't matter if it were blue, green or all the same color, as far as the driver is concerned it's the last light on the trailer or truck that matters in that respect. The lighting is setup for drivers AROUND you, not you (the driver).

Re: Help me find a sidemarker light please...

I'm sorry guys but this marker light stuff is being misinterpreted. Here is the DOT requirements for lighting -- ALL lighting.

http://www.glo-brite.com/application_info/dot_requirements.cfm

Note that two RED markers are required (one on each side of the trailer). They are to be mounted as far back as possible. The same applies for the UPPER markers (called clearance lights). There is nothing in this requirement that refers to the rear axle and moreover, you simply DO NOT install more than one red marker or clearance light on the side of a trailer (or car/truck). The axle position has nothing to do with lighting. As for not identifying the vehicle direction, I guess the DOT could have had all one color lamps. Obviously a lamp at each end of a vehicle and a bunch down the side would indicate how long the vehicle is would it not? If you don't believe this info, take a drive to a travel trailer/camper dealer, truck stop, or boat dealer and check marker lights. If you find one with more than one red marker (lower) and one red clearance (upper) that manufacturer or operator is in violation of DOT lighting.

Re: Help me find a sidemarker light please...

Thank You, I have a roll back wrecker, and i have 3side marker lights past the rear axle, but only 1 of them are red, and that is the very last one. I can't imagine what it would look like to have 7yellow and then 3red all on one side.... In respect to the trailer picture ahead, I have seen the lights on the back side of the fender red because it is visible from the rear, but then even side lights behind that are still yellow until the last one.

I too have rollbacks and there is only ONE socket from the rear of the wheels to the tail.....so there wouldn't be anymore then that. I also have a few 53' trailers that have two red lights....They came like that straight from Hale Trailer. My spread axle has one, and my low doll also has two. I guess my Class A Lisc. and 15 years of experience was a waste.
