Help me get my lower unit back on xr6 150

Ok. The service manual is vague on this. I remove my lower unit (xr6 150) and replaced the impeller. Having a little trouble getting everything back in sync. I put the shifter in forward, but what position do you put the shift rod that goes into the foot? Any help appreciated.

spin ur prop to see if it is in neutal or forward or reverse then match with controls and slap on make sure to stab water tubing. hope this helps

Yeah, I'm an idiot. Somehow it got bumped into forward. I got it back in place. Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll get this thing to the water one day.
