This is my first boat, it's a 14 foot fiberglass Glass Glide jon boat made by the Seminole boat company of Willacooche Ga. It was my Dads boat and I want to repair it! The back seat ( all fiberglass) was worn out. I cut out the bad area on the back seat which was about 12x32. I filled the void with styrofoam and great stuff. I then put a sheet of metal flashing across the top and a piece of 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood (9x24). I used bondo - glass to fill in the gaps and I plan on using fiberglass cloth to finish the seat. I am sanding the inside of the boat. I then plan on turning the boat over and tackling the bottom. There are several places that you can see torn fiberglass (mostly on corners and edge's) I suppose it's gel-coat and I need to know how to fix the bad spots and re-paint the bottom. Any advice will be welcome..Thanks! Ken

Re: Help Me Please

Hi Ken,

Welcome to iboats!

Not to worry... Plenty of help here!

Probably the first thing that would help us is pictures. It would be great to see what you've done, and where the project is right now.

Looking forward to seeing the situation!

Re: Help Me Please

I took some pictures of my boat but when I tried to attach them a pop up said the file exceeded the 97.5 limit for this and I don't know how to make the pictures smaller. Ken

Hey Ken. I'm pretty new here too, but I have found that these guys will give you all the knowledge they have. Read read read! Pay special attention to the "Hull extension" thread by oops, its pretty much a "how to" for boat restoration. The guy really knows his stuff.

Re: Help Me Please

Ken,
One quick and easy way to resize pics....at least it works for me, if you use MS Outlook for e-mail, is to send the pics to yourself....Outlook should ask if you want to make them smaller....say yes...and you should be fine.

Re: Help Me Please

If you are still having issues with your photos you can try opening them in Microsoft paint. I'm not sure exactly how but I know you can resize them. Otherwise you can send me a private message and I will give you my email and resize them for you.

Re: Help Me Please

Hit Control and W in MSPaint and adjust the size by percentage. If it's from a digital camera, usually going to 50% will get it small enough to still be able to view online, but small enough to attach to a post without going over the limit.

If this is something you want to document as you go along, I would suggest using www.shareaproject.com
