hey there. I have a 1996 sylvan barritz 178 with a 3.0 lx inboard mercruiser with only 132 hours on her.
interior is immaculate.
brand new bellows/throttle cable
brand spanking new carb
brand new battery
all fluids replaced
nice trailer
brand new boat cover
only minor cosmetic scratches from a dock on the exterior

I was given this boat and basically spent my time updating some things to get it back to great condition but guess what? We don't have the time to use it and it just sits. It just purrs like a brand new boat...
I want to sell it but can't seem to get the knowledge of how much I should list it for to be fair to both parties.
What do you think a reasonable price is? Ballpark guess?IMG_2240.jpgIMG_2241.jpgIMG_2242.jpgIMG_2243.jpgIMG_2245.jpg

I ran it through a boat valuer program I have that searches prices.

Low: $6022
Average: $7163
Top: $7735

Take these numbers with a grain of salt but I hope that helps you price it. It looks very nice in the pics.

IMG_2238.jpgIMG_2248.JPGIMG_2249.JPGIMG_2242.jpgIMG_2239.jpgthanks hivoltg... i was kind of thinking around 6000 myself. Is it rare to find a boat of it's age with that kind of hrs usage? This family friend just wanted it out of his pole barn so I took it. Educated myself on mercruiser stuff and she only needed minor updating (bellows, gimbal bearing, and a carb). There was nothing else it needed (well aside from flushing out all the fluids and replacing them to spec)...
I really enjoyed working on the boat... kind of sucks that we just can't use it with newborn kids and what not.

Re: help me price my boat? please?

Hours on a boat that old are not the most relevant metric plus it's easy to misrepresent hours on a meter. Low hours after a certain point mean not enough usage and all the accompanying potential issues that come along or at least that is the mentality.
For me I think...It's old but not ancient styling wise, looks like it's been taken care of, oddly placed high 5 prop on a 4 cylinder yet expensive none the less but the downside is a 3.0, a brand of boat that I thought only made pontoons, and the season is nearly over at least where I am. I'd start out at somewhere a bit north of 6000$. Also I boated as a new born and so did my kids. No reason to not keep it.

Mid-ohio people would be *asking* $7500 for it. Realistic price - $6000. You would get some quick buyers @ $5800 firm !

I'd probably list it at $6995. Drop it to $5995 if I didn't get any action. Take any offer over $5.

thanks jkust, calvinator and ezmozbee! I have created my ad to read 6000. We will see I guess. Our season here in GA is slowing into fall so I hope I was not too late to get a listing going.

Fall is in the air here. At our cabin in northern MN this weekend it was closing in to the 30's at night. Boating is starting to take a back seat to about 10 other things. Hard to pull the trigger buying seasonal stuff out of season sometimes.

I need a boat lift...they are all over Craig's List some used 2013 models even. I can't pull the trigger. I need to but can't...it's irrational.
