Hi I have an open boat 27 ft, with a good sound system, but I don't feel that it is sufficient, I want more power and good sound, I currently have an aplificador of 700 watts, 4 speakers pay marine 6 x 9 and two 8 ' subwoofer and two speakers of 6 x 5... I use two batteries 27 marine, with a Perko switch one instrument and one for the engine... just use my ipad with an amplifier pre payle Marine to amplify the signal coming from the ipad to the ampli .
I see that there are boats with 2 amplifiers and many more speakers, how do they do with batteries.? Do they load them hours on the beach when the engine is off.

Thanks in advance

Re: Help me Upgrade my sound system

There is a local sound store down here in Raleigh. The owner bought a boat and loaded it up with audio equipment as a demo (nice business wirteoff by the way). Lots and lots of batteries. You should figure out how many amp hours your equipment is going to use and make sure your battiers have enough power that you don't run them down past 50%

For example

2X Optima deep cycle battries size 24 batteries (80AH each) 160 total AH

Head unit 6/AH
Amp1 30AH
Amp2 30AH

Total AH usage 66AH
So with 160AH you can run your rig for about 2 hours. With that said I just pulled numbers out of the air. You will have to find out how many AH your equipment use and adjust the caculation accordnling.

Also keep in mind you are going to have to charge these battries back up. If you have a 65AH alternator you are lucky if you are putting 65AH back in to the battries per hour.
