I need a inflatable boat for inshore use and also for lake use. I had a chat with a boat broker who sugested a zodiac caribe inflatable how good are these. What other good boats could I get that are inflatable. the reason I need it for lake use is I do marine modelling in particular fast electric boats when they flip it is sensible to go and get it with another boat

You would have to look a long time to find a better inflatable than a Zodiac.

Might look up "deejaycee". He races them in the ocean off the coast of So. Africa; posts pics of his stunts here that he does with his.

If anyone knows he surely should.

hahahaha .... glad to hear you have confidence in me Mark I appreciate that ... zodiac inflatables are good quality inflatables ... for what you wanto use it for .... if you are looking for a zodiac with centre console that is slightly expensive on a trailer I would suggest the zodiac futura, and if you looking for a cheaper more compact inflatable with a tiller-arm outboard I would suggest a zodiac classic or zodiac zoom that you can fold up and fit in the back of a car .... I would say about 3 - 3,5 meter with about 15 - 30hp ..... here is a link so you can go have a look .... http://www.zodiacmarineusa.com/products/sportboats.html ..... I hope that helps ..

Although your question has been thoroughly answered, I'm curious about the model boats you're building. What's the scale? Tunnel hulls? How fast is fast? Any pictures?

my model boats here goes 1 graupner taifun hydroplane lots of pics of those on the net it has a 700 motor running 12 cells around 30-35 MPH est. Aquacraft top speed2 with os engine not assembled yet a Tunnel hull dave franks oberto. being a sod to build. on order a climate boatworks martrix ultra rigger will have a mega 22/20/2 motor driving a 35mm prop with a hacker master 77 speed con and race packs. Thinking about getting the Dumas hawk rigger 3.5 with an os 21 producing just over 2 HP I think

Caribe is a different company from Zodiac. They make lower priced Hypolon boats in South America.

I can hear the snickers already but if you are looking for a boat that is light, inexpensive, and easy to inflate I recommend Sea Eagle. They are a quality boat for the money and would work well for the model thing. 8)

Re: Help me with a decision please

JB,

He's got a hydroplane model boat with a 300 (Size) electric motor powered by 12 "C" Cell batteries (Most likely Nicad batteries).

The other is a ActionCraft tunnel hull powered by an OS max marine two stroke engine.

The third boat is a boatworks martrix ultra rigger (dont know any details) with two electric motors and a fancy electronic speed controller and a 35mm propeller and fast discharge battery packs for extra speed.

And he'd like to get a Dumas hawk rigger 3.5 with an OS max .21 Cubic Inch two stroke producing around 2 horse power at around 15,000 - 20,000 RPM.

YEA I FINALLY GOT TO SCHOOL JB!!!!!! ;)
