12 volts in, 12 volts out, with a 4 cly. dist. the odds of being on a high spot are slim. Explain what you did, how you did it to check and re-gap the points.
Got her running today. Just used a nail file to clean the points and she started up. Took about 45 sec for the water to push out all of the old nasty blackish moldy water then only clean water came out...
I have a question though. How do you know that the impeller is working right and pulling water into the engine to cool it? There is water going in with the adapter and water comes out of the center of the propeller. Is that all I need? I dont see anywhere that the water would come out other then there..
Also the belts are making noise (not at idle but when I give it some gas) (Never went past 1/5 throttle ever dont want to do that on land dont know if that is bad or not but didn't want to chance it.) I am going to get some of that belt spray that is used on cars to make them stop but is there any other thoughts? Also The way the belt is on there is no way to take it off other then taking an engine mount off. Well at least I dont see how. It runs from the top pully to the crankshaft then to the alternator and back around. Is that right?
