an update.I called the guy who i bought the trim motor/pump from and without
saying very much he sent me a new motor /pump for free,although when i
switched them,the problem stayed the same,does that confirm my suspicion that these motors are not strong enough and he just doesnt want to admit it,
he probably has a container full of these weak motors,I dont know,I,m trying to
avoid taking apart the entire system.

I think that I bought the same unit (trim/tilt pump) as you guys did.
I wonder if anyone can help me out?
Was anyone able to get their trim working properly after having this problem - the motor not trimming all the way in.
I would like to know if this is a bleeding issue, or if I should just scrap the thing and look for a new one?

I have the same problem with my 888 outdrive. Will trim up fine, but will not go down. I changed out the pump with a good one. Put in a new solenoid. STILL WON"T TRIM DOWN! ANYONE KNOW WHATS GOIN ON?

Thank you hkeiner ! ,after 2 months of trimming down problems.The trim piston ball
was just a tiny bit gunked up with sand,I moved around with my finger then dabbed on a little grease and voila it goes down every time.

What a crazy thing!
Worked for me, one of the balls was sticking, thanks a lot oldtruck and hkeiner!
I would figure every outboard mechanic must have seen this at least a 100 times! Took a long time for the answer to come up here - maybe this should be in the FAQ section??
