i've got a 14'6" aluminum v-hull fishing boat. I'm looking for suggestions as to where i should mount my trolling motor. should i mount it in back next to the outboard? or should i mount it as close to the front as possible? i've been told that i should mount it in the front, but i cant actually put it in the front. it would be more on the side (towards the front) because of the shape of the front and the lettering for the boat license. any suggestions would help greatly.

Best place is on the front deck within 2 feet either side of bow. Much eaiser to pull the front of the boat into wind and current to go where you want. It can go on the back as a pusher but much harder to steer when the wind blows.

There are several mounts available that put her dead center on the bow, BDub. Best possible spot.

Check various boating shops and sites. :)

BDub,

As the others have said, the front is the best. I believe Cabelas sells a front mount that will work with transom mount style motors.

There is nothing wrong with a transom mount. It just depends on how you are going to use it.

www.Cabelas.com
