I was down in the marsh fishing last weekend. Was running on plane and overheat alarm went off ran fine the rest of the day but i know when it starts up it take about a min or two before the motor starts peeing so today I installed a water pump kit- new impeller and pump cover and gaskets. now It still does the same thing. so I used my laser thermometer and the heads are running between 140- 150 degrees with muffs is this normal? or is the motor going to do this because it is not made to run on muffs ? Now this is taking a temperature reading just on the surface of the heads near the tmep. sensors does this sound right or am I overheating? I am going to pick up the 130 degree thermostats and poppets can anyone think of any other problem I could be having? and does anyone have the part # for the 130 degree t- stats ?? any info would be great . and if my motor seems to be acting normal let me know as this is my first mercury. !!!!!
