I have a Golden that absolutely loves the water and boating. My problem is with his hesitation to get on the boats. He wants to really bad, but our dock is a "brock dock" and offers no traction. When he tries to jump into/on the boat, his rear legs slip and he looses all balance. It's pretty funny to watch sometimes. Does anyone have any ideas of something that could be put down on the dock to give him traction?

You might try a strip of that artificial grass like they sell at Home Depot, for use on decks, it has rubber on the back and it really pretty cheap and easy to put down and take up.

get a roll of that cabinet liner from walmart. You know the stuff that keeps your dishes from sliding.

Pickem up

I tried that a few times with the golden you see pictured in my avatar, she hated being picked up and I ended up in the drink more than once and she was only about 70lbs, my 115 pounder, no way in He.. you were going to pick her up!

If you do decide this course of action, make sure you have your PFD on and can hold your breath for a while, when you are squeezed between the dock and the boat! As the dog looks over the side for you trying to figure out where you went!!!

I miss my Golden, she passed last spring. She loved the water.
