Help my Ldrive wont go in to gear

I have a 1989 125 Ldrive. Last year engine died on me and would crank but not start. As it cranked it turned the steering wheel all the way to lock. This year I started the engine on the first crank, but it wont engage into gear. I checked the shift cable and shifted the linkage manualy on the lower unit. Everything seems to be oprerating fine. Is there a shear pin some where that might have broke last year when the engine died? Please help I am one inch from burning this boat and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe there's no more L in your L-Drive.

Found the problem with my boat. The shaft cotaining the double cardon ujoint setup broke. Does anyone know where to find these parts used? My local parts dealer says this shaft is no longer available.

Good luck frisky I'm looking for the same thing for my boat the boat shop that installed the power head never put the shaft , coupler and the pin back . I've been searching for someone that still has a few in stock . I will update you when I find them
