Re: Help needed with '69 Speedliner shift cable

Hey JF660R, I just want to say I appreciate your thread. I have a 1972 Starcraft Nova, with a mercruiser 120. I am in the process of replacing the transom, and I think I should do the shift cable while I've got everything apart. It was shifting a little ruff before, and it probably wouldn't hurt to replace it.

Yeah I would do all you can to stay out of it in the future. Mine is way past due for a transom replacement but its not worth the effort.

We got the shift cable in. Gonna try it out maybe saturday. Hopefully it works, otherwise I'm probably gonna have to cut my losses on this thing and part/scrap it out.

I just re-read the thread and realized that there's no mention of adjusting the cable. The adjustment is very important, so I'm hoping you followed the instructions carefully.
Good luck and happy boating/fishing.
