Re: Help No Compression

SSchefer, I bought a goodson hn-218 off ebay. It's basically a sunnen an112
knockoff with a heavier duty yoke. I got lucky after biding on several sunnen
hones and found this goodson listed. The seller didn't mention sunnen in the
listing so I was the only bidder.
Yea, I wish I had a bridgeport in the basement too, next to a good size lathe.
For now I'll just have to hone oversize or use a local shop to bore my
cylinders.

Thanks. I guess they haven't changed that Sunnen for a few years then. The 112 with hardened diamond stones is what I had...Wipers were a little old but they were still good. Never loan your tools.. Guess I'll go look for a Goodson and run it in my drill press. Dang I have to get stones, a quick connect and universals too. Argghh.

Thanks again.

Re: Help No Compression

Well I got power head off and the pistons are scored and in bad shape the cylinders same it looks like a complete rebuild. The crank is in excellent shape the journals look great and the main bearings. I'll take the crank and let them mic and make the call! I pretty much know the answer with the economy. (CHANGE) I broke one of the big rings that hold the crank in place whoops. I'll let everyone know how this turns out. I'm pretty confident about rebuilding myself, it'll be my first outboard any pointers.

You can have a look at my FrankenMerc project if you want. There's some info in that you might be able to use. This engine is turning out to be somewhat of a hot rod but it's got the basic stuff in it. It is a long term project so you'll probably be way ahead of it in no time.
