HELP!!! Noise, smoke and now Motorguide 82# won't shut off

I was on the water today, in the rain. I was using the TM and I heard a"short" noise like a soft pop from the front of the boat. The motor shut off and wouldn't work. I got it to come back on using the bypass switch. When it came on a puff of smoke came from the top of the trolling motor. Now it won't STOP running....HELP!!!

Sounds like you burned up the relay or contactor. Going to need to take some things apart and see what is burnt

Where should I start?

We are unable to see what your looking at, with that I would suggest removing anything you can to get into the unit. My guess is it's toast and cannot be repaired, but need to get it apart to see what is burnt
