I just got a nice 1969 OMC electric shift drive. The guy said it was for a V-8, but when I went into the upper gearcase to put the tru-course steering in the gears were bigger and a tag said that they were for a inline 4 type engine, which is way more smaller than a V-8. So I put it on my V-8 and reved the boat up on the river the clutch started slipping right when the boat got on plane and just kept slipping. I tried to put my spare 14x12 prop on than the 14x14 prop, and that didn't work. Does anyone know if the bigger gears crank more torque on the clutchesfrom the V-8? Or should I put smaller gears in the upper housing for the V-8? I would appreciate it if someone knew.

Thanks.
