Help on carb switch

Can I take the carb assemblys from a 1985 50 HP evinrude and install them on a 1973 50 HP Evinrude? I was told that the jets and the carb bore are smaller and the motor won't open up. The prop and the gear case are much larger on the 73 model compared to the 85

That'll work fine. Use the same jets that came in the 1985 carb that you will use (as produced). Do not change them.<br /><br />Good luck!
