Help Please(bass boat question)

I have a 1994 Fisher GT19(18'9") bass boat with a rebuilt 1989 evenrude 90hp. Running a 17pitch aluminum prop with no set back. I will be moving my trolling motor batteries to the back of the boat in the spring. Max speed was 37m/h. Question is, Is this the max speed I should expect? Will a set back really make a difference and can I go to a bigger pitched prop without loosing rpm?<br />Thanks, any help would be appreciated.<br />JP

It won't accomplish much more than would a motor in poroper trim,or trim tabs. Bt it's still a very good idea ,as it should allow for easier starting and prolonged starter life. Also, it will help the bildge pump perform better. It may actuall tkae a second or two longer to plane out, but still worth it.

Generally moving weight to the back will slow the hole shot and raise speed required to plane and stay on plane.It may increase top end slightly.<br />Increasing pitch will lower rpm. Difficult to know the speed result without knowing present rpm.<br />Motor trim can help.Depending on the present height, raising the motor virtically as little as an inch can gain 3 or 4 mph.Though it could increase the likely hood of cavitation<br />problems.

don't know if this will help but i had the same moter on a 15 ft bass boat with a 19 in prop and it would only do 38 to 40 and i tried it all to get more speed with no luck

I don't think you will see any additional speed - you're only talking about 70-75 pounds max. Sounds like you are doing pretty good for a 90 hp. I've got a 90 on a 17.5 ft boat with the same pitch prop and I top out at 39, provided the wind is just right and i turn my cap around backwards.
