HELP PLEASE bogging issue

1977 OMC stringer drive with a Ford small block 302

When in open throttle, sometimes (when warm) the boat will bog, wont shut of but will bog for a few seconds and go back to normal.
Changed the spark plugs, wires and the roter (couldn't fine a cap, but i cleaned it good)

Maybe water in my gas tank? Fuel Pump? Carb?

Please advise where to go from here?

How intermittent is this happening, or is it consistent at a certain point (RPM maybe)? My thought would be to check fuel delivery and make sure everything is working right and that the line and filter are clear. Then take a look at the carb.

happens at different times and speeds, doesn't do it all the time, usually starts at the end of the day, thinking about checking and seeing if there is water in my gas tank, then maybe looking at the fuel pump

Are you overheating at all? If it's more typically later in the day after you've been running a while, I wonder if it's temperature related.

No not overheating, temp is always stable, the manual fuel pump is always soft and id go back there a few times and give it a few pumps before it got hard again, kinda feeling like a fuel related

You have a manual pump and the pump on the engine? I'd check the engine pump first just to make sure it's pushin' fuel.

how would i go about doing that?

i do strongly feel its the mechanical fuel pump, just not sure how to diagnose it?

I'd just disconnect the fuel line going into the filter/carb (however yours is setup), crank the engine a couple of times and see if I get gas comin' out. That won't answer a fuel pressure question, but it'll deal with it gettin' there in the first place.

I'll try that. It's getting fuel for sure cuz it will start right up and stay running with no problems. I'm gonna stick a tube in my gas tank and pull out a gallon and see if there's any water down there. Btw. If there's a fuel pressure issue I'd just need a new fuel pump??

I'm not sure about pressure - don't know exactly what I need to look for. I believe you need about 35 PSI, but I'm not 100% sure if it's the pump that affects that alone or in anything else can as well (maybe an obstruction in the line or the filter, y'know?).
